Brian Ness, Executive Director
Hello everyone. My name is Brian Ness and I have been running Choice City Christian Camp since 1993. I was born and raised in Fort Collins, received my bachelor’s degree in Education from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. I started teaching elementary school in 1992 and am currently the Elementary Principal at Heritage Christian Academy.
My wife, Karina, and I have been married since 1989 and have two wonderful children, Lucas – 22 years old and Nicole – 20 years old. Lucas is finishing up his second year of college working toward a degree in Elementary Education and Nicole will be starting her college years this coming fall working toward a degree in Nursing.
We have enjoyed our time in Fort Collins as well as mission’s opportunities in New Mexico, Haiti, Mexico and St. Vincent. The four of us have loved being involved with Choice City and all the great kids and families we have met over the past 23 + years. God has provided some wonderful camp counselors all these years who enjoy playing with your kids as well as teaching them in the way they should go and keeping them safe. Please give us a call, 310-6335 or email us at email@example.com if you would like further information about camp this summer.
Nicole Bargren (with family), Staffer & Bus Driver
Hello Families! I'm known as "Miss Nicole" to Choice City Campers and it is such a blessing to be able to spend my summers with such a fun group of staffers and children. I grew up in Fort Collins and went on to graduate from the University of Northern Colorado. I moved to Steamboat Springs afterwards for what I thought would be a brief adventure working (and skiing) at the mountain. Fifteen years later I was still there, married and with two beautiful boys! My family moved back to Fort Collins in 2009. I've worked summers at CCCC since 2012. During the school year I am the office secretary at Heritage Christian Academy. My boys attend school at HCA as well as go to summer camp. They like the fact that they get to have their "school" friends and their "summer" friends. It is tryly a great experience for all ages. Your child's safety and well-being are of utmost importance. Hope to see you soon!
Ronda Thorne, Staffer & Bus Driver
I am Ronda Thorne, the grandma figure of this exceptional group of Choice City Christian Camp councilors. This is my fifth year of driving bus for the camp. The first year was as a sub. It was so much fun that I chose to stay on after the driver moved on. I have two grown children, Amy and Justin, a daughter in-law and two grandchildren, one of whom lives in Michigan and attends college, the other one is 11, lives in Fort Collins and joins us at camp on occasion. I have two step-grandchildren 11 and 13. They like to join us when they are available.
Also, I will have a new son-in-law as Amy was married last April. I retired from the Poudre School District as a bus driver after 29 years of driving. I love working with children and believe that is where God has always led me throughout my life. I am now employed with Heritage Christian Academy as the bus driver and lunch duty person. I get to be the PE sub when needed at HCA.
It was at the age of eight, I accepted Jesus as my personal savior at the First Baptist Church in Craig, Colo. where I grew up and went to school. I always hope that I can share the love of Jesus with the children whom I am privileged to work with. I have several hobbies. I love spending time with my grandson, reading, gardening, fishing, biking. I also love spending weekends in Craig with my brothers and their families.
Lucas Ness, Staffer
Hi everyone! My name is Lucas Ness, I will be 22 this year and this will be my sixth year working with the camp. But, this will be my 18th year being involved with Choice City Christian Camp. Ever since I was old enough to walk I have been attending Choice City enjoying multiple summers adventuring with my dad (Brian Ness) as well as all the other counselors. I attended Heritage Christian Academy and graduated from there in 2011. I am now attending the University of Northern Colorado to get my Elementary Education degree. I have also studied youth ministry and played soccer at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. I enjoy all types of outdoor and indoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, basketball and especially running. So hopefully I will be able to keep up with your kids.
I have been extremely blessed by Choice City both as a child attending it and as a counselor at the camp. There is not a job I have enjoyed more than being able to hang out with an incredible assortment of kids from all sorts of backgrounds. I have always had the best time doing all of the activities that this camp offers from hanging out at the park, to swimming at EPIC, to eating too much pizza at Chuck E. Cheese! Above all this though my hope is that all of us at Choice City are the roll models that your kids need as they continue to grow up in this beautiful area. Looking forward to seeing you all this summer!
